Android mengalami perkembangan yang sangat pesat.  Saat ini sistem operasi android sudah digunakan oleh banyak vendor smartphone,  seperti HTC,  Samsung,  Sony Ericsson,  Motorola dan LG.  Dilansir dari Kompas,  pada ajang Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 di Barcelona, Spanyol, pada 27 Februari hingga 1 Maret 2012, Google melaporkan total aktivasi per hari perangkat Android serta total aplikasi di Android Market.  Pada pertengahan Desember 2011 lalu, setiap harinya ada 700 ribu aktivasi perangkat Android di seluruh dunia. Pada akhir pekan momen Natal 2011, aktivasi Android mencapai 3,7 juta. Dan sekarang, pertumbuhan Android semakin cepat dengan aktivasi 850 ribu perangkat per hari.
